Itinerary
Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple
After sunset, you will be picked up from your hotel in Aswan in an air-conditioned coach and taken for the sound and light show in Philae. You will be taken to the Nile for a motorboat ride to the Philae Temple. The temple is dedicated to goddess Isis. It was dismantled and reassembled in a new site on Agilika Island, about 500 meters from the former site of Philae. Philae was the southernmost place in Egypt and the last outpost of the 4000 year-old ancient Egyptian religion. During the Greco-Roman period, Philae was a sacred island and an important cult center dedicated to Isis.
At the sound and light show, the Egyptian gods and goddesses such as Osiris are resurrected before you to tell their life stories. Enjoy a brilliant display of light and sound and get a glimpse into the history of ancient Egypt.
After the show, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Aswan.
