White Canyon Full Day Camel Ride from Dahab
Ride a camel into the Sinai Desert on a full-day tour of the White Canyon between Dahab and St. Catherine. The program commences at 08:00 with a 1-hour drive to the start point of your camel safari.
Ride a camel for 30 minutes to the beginning of the White Canyon. Located 2,300 feet (700 meters) above sea level along the route to St. Catherine, the canyon is known for its white soft sandstone terrain.
Leave your camel and walk through the canyon with a guide to the Ain Khudra Oasis. As you descend into the canyon you will see Bedouin families living in traditional tents, following the natural water sources for their livestock.
The palm tree and desert vegetation paradise is located 32 miles (53 kilometers) north of Dahab. Observe the desert at its most natural state, where Mother Nature has brought some rain, and a natural spring irrigates the landscape. Enjoy a Bedouin lunch at the oasis before rejoining your camel for a 45-minute ride to the Rock of Inscriptions.
Found all over the Sinai, the rocks depict scenes of early life when the Sinai was still savanna and home to lions and ostriches. The only relics of these times are the Acacia trees. Nabateans, Romans and Byzantines left messages on the rocks along the Pilgrim's Road (Darb el Hajj) for other pilgrims to read. One of the most amazing places where these inscriptions are found is located on a rock between St. Catherine and Dahab/Nweba.
After you have viewed the rocks, climb back on your camel and return to the car, which will take you back to Dahab through the desert landscape.
